What SR2 gives you is the choice to either focus all those resources into a single hierarcy feeding a single planet to it's fullest potential, or multiple smaller ones on various levels and differing functions.Įndless space is probably the easiest but it does get boring(if you've played a couple of moo-likes already) quite quickly. So no matter what you will have lots of territory to defend, and those planets do require some attention but the majority will just be the equivalent of a mine, a node of strategic resource for your empire. You can't get resources without expanding, you need to grab and hold territory and colonize planets. The diplomacy drafting game is also quite unique and powerful enough to substitute for offensive fleets.
